Main Discussions: Day 3
2. God's Six Action Verbs for True Fasting
Discuss each action and its modern application:
a) Loose the bonds of wickedness
How can we help break systems that trap people in debt, addiction, or injustice?
What resources exist in our community for addiction recovery or financial literacy?
b) Undo heavy burdens
Where do we see people carrying unnecessary weight (guilt, unrealistic expectations, crushing pressure)?
How might we be contributing to others' burdens rather than relieving them?
c) Let the oppressed go free
What does "grace-filled discipleship instead of fear-based control" look like practically?
Who in your circle might need safe space rather than judgment?
d) Break every yoke
Pastor asked us to identify one habit or yoke to surrender during this fast. Are you willing to share yours with the group for accountability?
How can we support each other in breaking unhealthy patterns?
e) Share your bread with the hungry
Key Quote: "Fasting isn't only about what you don't eat, but who you feed."
What opportunities do we have to literally or figuratively feed others this week?
f) Bring the poor into your house
What would "making room in your life" (not just opening your door) look like for you?
How can we as a group practice hospitality that crosses comfort zones?
