Day 3: The Danger of Spiritual Drift

Reading: Hebrews 2:1-3

Devotional: Hebrews 2:1 warns believers to pay careful attention to what they have heard so they do not drift away from it. Drift is rarely dramatic. It is quiet and gradual, one small step at a time. As the sermon illustrated, a sheep does not decide to get lost. It simply keeps its head down, chasing one patch of grass after another, until it looks up and the shepherd is nowhere in sight. The same happens in the spiritual life. Prayer becomes occasional. Worship becomes distant. The Word grows unfamiliar. The antidote is not perfection but attentiveness. Keep your eyes on the shepherd, not the grass.

Personal Reflection: In what area of your life have you noticed a slow, quiet drift away from God?

Practical Application: Identify one spiritual habit you have allowed to slip. Commit to restoring it this week, even in a small way.
