Devotion: Day 3

Day 3: Release the Weight of Yesterday

Reading: Hebrews 12:1-2; Ephesians 4:31-32; Romans 8:1

Devotional: "Lay aside every weight" isn't optional—it's essential for the race ahead. Emotional weights like bitterness, anger, and resentment drain the spiritual energy needed for faith. You cannot run forward while carrying yesterday's wounds in a backpack labeled "what they did to me."

Many believers are forgiven but still practice self-punishment. Romans 8:1 declares: "There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus." Past failures should inform your journey, not define your identity. The enemy wants you dwelling on regret; God wants you demonstrating redemption.

Forgiveness—of others and yourself—is the key to shedding emotional weight. What resentment are you clutching? What shame are you rehearsing? Christ already carried it to the cross. Your job is to believe Him and move forward unencumbered.

Reflection Question: What emotional weight do you need to lay down today to run your race effectively?
