Devotion: Day 1

Day 1: God's Mercy Comes First

Reading: Genesis 19:15-17; Ephesians 2:4-5

Devotional: Before God ever issues a command, He extends mercy. The angels didn't just warn Lot—they took him by the hand. This physical touch represents God's relational approach to our deliverance. He rescues us not because we deserve it, but because He is "rich in mercy."

Consider your own salvation story. Where has God pulled you out before you fully obeyed? His compassion rescues those who cannot rescue themselves. The Hebrew word for mercy, chemla, speaks of intervention on behalf of the helpless. Today, reflect on areas where God's mercy found you when you were still lost. Deliverance always begins with God's initiative, not our worthiness. Let gratitude, not guilt, fuel your forward movement.

Reflection Question: What situation has God already begun delivering you from, even before you fully surrendered?
