Day 2: Trusting God's Character When Life Contradicts His Promises

Reading: Hebrews 11:17-19

This passage describes how Abraham, when called to offer Isaac, reasoned that God was able to raise the dead, demonstrating that his faith was rooted in his knowledge of God's character rather than his present circumstances.

Devotional: Abraham did not simply endure his test. He discerned the nature of the God who was testing him. He knew that God had made a covenant promise concerning Isaac, and he knew that God cannot lie. Because he understood God's character, he could trust God's plan even when the plan appeared to contradict the promise. This is mature faith. It is not the absence of confusion or grief. It is the settled confidence that God's nature remains constant regardless of what the moment looks like. The deeper you know God, the more steadily you can walk through what you do not yet understand.

Personal Reflection: Is there a promise God has given you that your current circumstances seem to contradict? How well do you know the character of the God who made that promise?

Practical Application: Spend fifteen minutes today reviewing promises in scripture that speak directly to your situation. Write them down and keep them visible throughout the week.
