Today's Thought: Day 3

In the story of Goldilocks, the porridge was sitting on the table.
It was accessible.
Nobody was standing there guarding it.
Goldilocks could reach it.
But accessibility did not equal permission.
Availability is not authorization.
That distinction becomes extremely important in life.
Not every open door came from God.
Not every opportunity requires a yes.
Not every invitation deserves acceptance.
Not every relationship that becomes available belongs in your life.
Not every argument deserves your response.
Not every financial opportunity deserves your investment.
Not every position you're capable of filling is part of your assignment.
Maturity requires more than asking:
“Can I?”
It requires asking:
“Should I?”
There will be things you have the ability to do but not the authorization to pursue.
And sometimes God's protection looks like restraint.
We often celebrate the doors God opens.
But perhaps we should also thank Him for giving us enough discernment to recognize the doors we should walk past.
