Devotion: Day 4
Day 4: Hungering for the Right Things
Reading: Matthew 5:6; John 6:35; Psalm 42:1-2
Devotional: "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied." What are you truly hungry for? Jesus calls us to examine our appetites—not just physical, but spiritual. Sometimes God reveals that we're more excited about earthly pleasures than we are about Him. He is the meat, the bread, the living water. When our cravings for anything—food, entertainment, comfort, approval—exceed our craving for His presence, He lovingly redirects us. Fasting isn't just about abstaining; it's about reorienting our desires toward God. True satisfaction comes only from Him. When we hunger and thirst for righteousness more than anything else, He promises we will be filled. Let your deepest craving be for more of Jesus.
Reflection Question: What do you hunger for more than God, and how can you redirect that desire?
