Devotion: Day 3

Day 3: God Comes Down

Reading: John 1:1-14

Devotional: "I have come down to deliver them." God's pattern throughout scripture is descent. He doesn't merely sympathize from heaven's distance—He enters human suffering. This theme reaches its ultimate expression in the incarnation: "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us." Jesus is God coming down. He stepped into our Egypt of sin, death, and separation. Deliverance required divine proximity. Like a rescue helicopter descending into a mountain crevasse, God lowered Himself into humanity's deepest pit. You cannot climb your way to freedom, but God can descend to where you are. The burning bush revealed God's nature: He moves toward pain, not away from it. Whatever crevasse holds you captive today, know that your Deliverer specializes in impossible rescues.

Reflection Question: Where do you need God to "come down" into your circumstances today?
