Devotion: Day 3
Day 3: When Pain Becomes Identity
Reading: Ruth 1:19-21
Devotional: Naomi's pain was real—she had lost her husband and sons. But somewhere along her journey, pain transformed into bitterness that redefined her. "Don't call me Naomi (pleasant)," she said. "Call me Mara (bitter)." Bitterness renames us based on what we've lost, but God refuses to name us after our wounds. He sees beyond our suffering to our redemption. God never called Naomi "Mara" because He doesn't define us by our darkest seasons. Your past hurts, betrayals, and disappointments are not your identity in Christ. Today, reject the names bitterness wants to give you—rejected, abandoned, forgotten, unworthy. Instead, embrace the names God calls you: beloved, redeemed, chosen, and His own. Let His truth rename your story.
