Day 1

Scripture
Philippians 1:15–17
"Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife... but others also from goodwill."

Devotional
When most people think about spiritual warfare, they picture temptations, persecution, or attacks from Satan. Yet one of the greatest spiritual battles takes place in a location no one else can see—our hearts.
Paul reveals a startling truth: two groups of people preached the same Christ, but for entirely different reasons. One group was motivated by love. The other was motivated by envy and selfish ambition. Outwardly, they appeared similar, but inwardly they were worlds apart.
God is never fooled by appearances. He is not impressed simply because we preach, teach, sing, give, or serve. He searches the heart (Jeremiah 17:10). A ministry that looks successful to people may be empty before God if it is driven by pride, jealousy, or the desire for recognition.
This passage invites us to ask an uncomfortable but necessary question: Why am I doing what I do?
