Day 1 – The True Vine
Jesus begins this teaching with one of His seven "I AM" statements. Israel was often described in the Old Testament as God's vineyard (Isaiah 5:1–7; Psalm 80:8–16), yet Israel repeatedly failed to produce the fruit God desired.
Jesus now declares,
"I am the true vine."
He is saying,
"Where Israel failed, I have succeeded."
Life is no longer found in religion, tradition, family heritage, or good works.
Life is found in Christ alone.
A vine is the source of life for every branch.
The branch never creates life.
It simply receives it.
Likewise, Christians do not manufacture spiritual life—we receive it from Jesus daily.
Many believers spend their energy trying to "be better Christians."
Jesus teaches something different.
Don't focus on producing fruit.
Focus on staying connected.
Fruit becomes the natural result.
