Devotion: Day 1
Day 1: Beyond Religious Routine
Reading: Isaiah 58:1-5; Matthew 15:8
Devotional: God isn't impressed by our religious activities when our hearts remain unchanged. The Israelites fasted, prayed, and sought God daily, yet He said, "Show my people their transgressions." They were religiously busy but spiritually unchanged. Like a phone disconnected from Wi-Fi, their worship had no real connection to God's heart.
This fast season, examine your motives. Are you seeking God's attention or alignment with His heart? Fasting isn't a transaction to get what you want—it's transformation to become who God created you to be. True spiritual growth happens when we connect authentically to God, not just go through religious motions.
Reflection: What religious activities am I doing out of habit rather than heart? Where is my heart disconnected from my actions?
