Devotion: Day 3

Day 3: Ordinary Becomes Extraordinary

Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:26-31; 2 Corinthians 4:7

Devotional: A plain piece of wood in the hands of a master carpenter becomes a table, an instrument, or an altar. Your life in your own hands may look ordinary, but in God's hands, it becomes purposeful, powerful, and productive. God specializes in using unlikely people to accomplish extraordinary things. The disciples were unlearned fishermen, yet they turned the world upside down. Gideon was a fearful farmer who became a mighty warrior. Moses had a speech impediment but became God's spokesman. You may see your limitations, but God sees your potential. The treasure of His Spirit dwells in earthen vessels so that the excellency of the power is clearly of God and not of us. Stop disqualifying yourself based on what you lack. God is looking for yielded vessels, not perfect ones.

Reflection Question: What "ordinary" gifts or abilities has God given you that could become extraordinary in His hands?
